On standard dice opposite sides add up to 7. In the picture, the 3 and 4 are on adjacent sides. This also means that at least one other pair that add to 7 are adjacent: either 2 and 5 or 6 and 1, or both.
Here are three more questions:
Does the placement of the numbers matter? Will the die perform the same way with all arrangements or not? In other words, will the probability of getting a particular number be affected by how they are arranged?
Given the requirement that a die have opposite faces that add to 7, how many possible arrangements of the faces are there?
If you are not required to follow the rule that opposite faces add to 7, how many possible arrangements of the faces are there?
